Robinson was also kind, caring, and helpful. He served two years of active duty in the U.S Navy, preparatory to joining the Spurs team in 1989. He helped the Spurs team win 35 more games than the previous season. He teamed with Tim Duncan and led the Spurs to the franchise's first NBA championships. When he retired he ranked among the top 25 players in NBA history, in career points and rebounds, and was also fourth all-time in blocked shots. Robinson was a member of two gold medal-winning U.S men's basketball teams (NBA superstar-filled "Dream Team") that won the 1992 Olympic Games. He won a second gold medal at the 1996 Games in Atlanta too. In 2009, Robinson was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. I would say David Robinson is a phenomenal basketball player. Wouldn't you?
